Potato gratin

I bring to your attention a popular French recipe.
Delicate potatoes in a creamy sauce with a crispy golden crust!
An excellent side dish for meat, fish.
From the specified amount of ingredients, 6-8 servings are obtained.

  • 1 kg of potatoes
  • 250 ml milk (any fat content)
  • 350 ml cream (15-20%)
  • 150 g cheese (ideally gruyere)
  • 3 cloves of garlic
  • 1 tsp ground nutmeg
  • a small piece of butter
  • salt
  • pepper

Mix milk and cream.

Add 2 garlic cloves, squeezed through the garlic press.

Salt, pepper.

Add nutmeg.

Boil for 1-2 minutes.
Remove from fire.

Cut the potatoes as thin as possible.

Grate the mold (I used a 1.6 L mold) with a clove of garlic.

Lubricate with oil (bottom and sides).

Lay out the potatoes.
Salt a little.

Pour the sauce.

Put the potatoes again.

Pour the sauce.

Lay out all the potatoes in this way.
Pour over the remaining sauce.

Cover the tin with foil.
Put in the oven.
Bake at 180 degrees for 40-50 minutes.

Grate cheese on a coarse grater.

Sprinkle potatoes with cheese.
Place in the oven (do not cover with foil).
Bake until golden brown (about 10-15 minutes).

Enjoy your meal!
